M.A.N.D.Y.‘s long awaited debut album was finally released upon us last fall and now we deconstruct it and give it a new perspective, new life and new meaning. Of course we’re talking about the remix treatment, and here we have none other than Dubspeeka on duty. So first let’s brush up on the original. Featuring BAM from the iconic hip hop group of days gone by, Jungle Brothers, the track hits a unique vibe and as we described it before, Bam whispers raspy text based loosely on and largely influenced by the poem ‘Steps’ by Hermann Hesse. Now on to the remix. Dubspeeka crafts the track for the dancefloor, boosting the bass and underlining the rhythm while playing with the percussion in a brilliant fashion, giving the track an entirely new and deeper energy. The instrumental version strips the vocals while still leaving the driving vocal cuts intact. And as always the original album version is along for the ride for those who missed it the first time around.
