Hailing from the Puglia region of Italy, music is a mission for Andrea Fiorito, and clubbing a way of life. A DJ since 1994, and picking up the production reins in 2000, his own work has stalked out the space between propulsive minimal and expressive Detroit techno, while always sticking close to what has inspired and guided him from the beginning: true house music.

Following releases on his own The Flame imprint, not to mention two 12"s for Mike Shannon's consistently excellent Cynosure, Andrea arrives on Get Physical with a seductive, dangerous three-track EP, Proprio Tango. The title track is driven by Forito's custom stripped, heavy drums, offset by haunting, delay-heavy chords, and gorgeous strings which conjure the atmosphere of a smoky South American club in the 1930s - hard liquor, sexual intrigue and soaring temperatures. A female vocal flickers in the midst of the taut, dry beats, dulcet Italian intonation inviting us siren-like to our ruin.

'The Ghost' is all nimble bell-tones and wriggling minor-key melodies designed to entangle the dancefloor while crisp percussion and liquid bass combine for maximum swing. 'Dubbitech' employs a deep, grooving bassline and classic Detroit chords with the phaser set to stun - it's one for cruise control in the club, a low-riding techno-funk masterclass.

With the Proprio Tango EP, Andrea Forito announces himself as a producer of great skill and versatility, and more importantly one with a deep-set understanding of how to work the floor.
